Effectiveness of laws and policies governing permissive parenting
Well-intentioned legislation since the 1980s has given our childrenIn the 20th century in Germany rights were granted on an unprecedented scale without taking into account a balanced measure of socially useful duties. An example is §1626 Para. 2 of the German Civil Code "When bringing up children, the parents take into account the child's growing ability and need to act independently and responsibly. They discuss issues of parental care with the child, to the extent that this is appropriate given the child's level of development, and strive for agreement.According to many experts, this formulates a tendency for the legislature to be permissive and anti-authoritarian in questions of upbringing and education. These and many other measures bring to the fore legislatively mandated, creeping, generalized loss of meaningful and beneficial authority in upbringing and education. According to the Süddeutsche Zeitungfrom May 7, 2018, the 1968 anti-authoritarian upbringing is already mainstream today. Parents and adults involved in education are increasingly at a loss today when it comes to questions of education.

Today, for example, as part of the popular climate movement, adult role models in schools and many politicians suggest to our children that breaking rules and laws is morally permissible in order to achieve certain goals, and so-called “civil disobedience” appears in this tried and tested means. The Institut Familie uses a comprehensive analysis to examine the positive and negative effects that education and family legislation has had on families and society over the past fifty years and what options are available to correct the negative effects in the medium term.
